In 2004, a group of 6 international women desiring fellowship came together, initiated by a Korean Christian woman named Francesca and hosted by Joy, the General Manager’s wife at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
They met every Tuesday and began by studying the book, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’. Since then they have studied many books of the Bible and other inspired books to help them in their quest to be more like Jesus Christ.
Francesca felt the need for an International Church and shared this vision with the group and they began to pray. Charlotte had come from an International Church in Taiwan and also had a desire to see one started here in Macau. Separately, several people had approached Steve and Lyn Davis about leading an International Church. And also several of the women in the group expressed a desire for their husbands to have fellowship.
Shortly after the group started Francesca returned to Australia and Lyn Davis became the new leader of the International Ladies’ Bible Study group. By the end of 2006, this group had grown to around 10 ladies from 5 different countries.
In light of the rapidly changing culture of Macau and the growing number of both Asian and Western ex-pats coming to Macau, Steve and Lyn held a meeting one Sunday afternoon in early October at Hope Clinic, to pray and see who might be interested in starting an International Church. Several of those who were attending the Bible study group came with their husbands as well as many others. Oasis International Church was formed as a result of this meeting.
OASIS was registered in Macau as a non-profit association in the spring of 2007.
Steve & Lyn Davis were the founding co-pastors at OASIS, concluding their ministry in Macau in 2012.
